Cityscape Painting
Let us ask you how many cities you’ve visited. A lot? Then you will easily recognise the streets and squares at the cityscape paintings created by our artists. Not so many? So, you can just make a tour around the world at our Amsterdam Art Gallery, section Cityscape paintings. You will see the sky-scrapers and old towns, narrow streets with small old houses, parks and statues, the most loved places of all people coming to Paris, Amsterdam, London, Madris or any other city of the world. The cityscape paintings by Shuplyak Oleg, Filatov Dmitry, Shwidkiy Andrey, Pugacheva Svetlana, Nazarov Gleb represent the artistic vision on the life of cities that we may see every day.
For everyone of us the most loved places are the places where we were happy. A park where you walked with your true love, streets of a little town near the sea where you wandered full of dreams of youth... We are more than sure that in your native city or village you have many places that remind you of pleasant things and events in your life. Have you ever thought about creating a picture of these places to bring you sweet memories? We are sure you have.
On the cityscape paintings we see the harmony between the things created by man, the houses he built and the way he organised his life changing the face of wild nature. The nature has her own laws, not always so merciful for the man. Cityscape paintings represent the places where we live and what we see every day. The ways of life are so different but it happens that you feel attached to a place on a cityscape painting where you have never been before. How can it be possible? It’s a mystery, probably a mystery of past lives.
What touches our hearts on a cityscape painting? The windows of somebody’s homes pouring warm light at night, a bridge over a river which is yet empty early in the morning – an artist’s sharp eye takes the inspiration for creating a masterpiece in the streets where we walk every day. We even do not notice and do not know that the place where our feet step can become a part of a masterpiece that will live probably longer than the houses and cities it represents. Sometimes artists can paint non-existent places and buildings. They can be found only in the artist’s imagination.
The cities change their looks as the time goes. New architects create new faces of the old cityscape paintings. Some new buildings become places of interest and add their beauty to the well-known views from postcards. But some are unfortunately not so picturesque. There are artists who rush to catch on their canvas the unique architecture of previous centuries not to let it disappear being everywhere replaced by modern tall towers from glass and concrete. And you can also keep and store the memories about the way people lived before us. These are dear and warm memories. They say old houses have their souls. You can listen to their souls talking to us from the cityscape paintings at our Amsterdam Art Gallery. (c)Yana Strelbizkaya
